We couldn’t be more proud of all of our dancers and instructors for all the hard work they put in this year! All of these dances “jazzed it up” and brought smiles to all those in the audience. This act finished with “Annie”, a shortened Broadway show, and crowd favorite. “A 9/11 Tribute”, a contemporary dance, was both touching and beautiful. Tap dances included “Put On A Happy Face” and “I Got Rhythm” which are both popular songs from famous Broadway musicals.

A hip hop dance titled, “Graffiti Artists”, had everyone smiling and tapping their toes to the beat. Exciting jazz dances included “Welcome to New York”, “On Broadway” and “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch”. Each dance used a “New York” song or was something that one would find in New York City. We are so proud of all of our ballet dancers of all ages and stages!Īct 2, Welcome to New York, showcased some phenomenal talent and entertainment, from our dancers. This one-act ballet had all of the excitement, drama, and of course love, that any full-length ballet would have. We also had a ballroom scene which included the “ballroom guests” and the “princesses”. We had “seahorses”, “coral”, “angel fish”, “sun fish”, and “star fish” to name a few of our underwater dances. And of course the regal and graceful “Sea Queen”, was performed Jamie Jackson, who is a former dancer and mother of three of our students from here in Rutherford County.Īnd to complete the story, each ballet class served a roll in the performance. Of course no story (or ballet) is complete without a villain! The “Sea Witch”, danced by one of our instructors, Lydia Cranford, made a very believable villain. The public grand-opening event for 'Entering the Modern Era: Murfreesboro's Jazz Age,' an expanded exhibit, will be from 4-6 p.m. The “Prince” was performed by Jacob Morris. In Show 1, “Little Mermaid” was danced by Anna Paliaro, and Bonnie Moore danced the lead in Show 2. The Little Mermaid Ballet was a one-act ballet based on the beloved story of a young mermaid who falls in love with a human prince. Both acts showcased all of our dancers and their hard work. All ballet classes participated in the first act, The Little Mermaid Ballet and all jazz, tap, hip hop, funky cheer, broadway, and competition classes participated in the second act which was titled, Welcome to New York. 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.This past weekend marked Dance Classics’ 4th annual year-end recital in Murfreesboro, TN.

Middle school and high school jazz bands liven up the beginning of Saturday’s festivities, leading into the line up of professional jazz bands ready to perform throughout the night. – dusk on the historic Murfreesboro square.
